COURSEWORK

On this page, you can find a list and description of meaningful class that I have taken during my 4 year at Clemson University. The courses are organized by Cultural and Literature, Spanish Courses and my Biochemsitry Minor that all contributed to my Modern Language Major with an emphasis in Spanish. There is also a list of important classes that I have taken for my Genetics major. I hope this list of classes shows the rigorous cirriculum that I have taken as a student.

Culture and Literature Courses

SPAN 3070: The Hispanic World: Spain

In this class we explored the history of Spain as a country from how it was divided to when it united and beyond. We learned important figures and turning points in history that allowed Spain to become a powerful country that it is today.

HIST 3400: Latin America I

This course explored the history of Latin America and how it started from the rise of the indigenous people, the arrival of Christopher Columbus, slavery, to present day. Each section of history was related back to literature written during the time for further insight.

SPAN 3040: Intro Spanish Literary Forms

This literary course explored grammatical sentence structures of literature including short stories, poems, and more. With that we learned to read, interpret, and analyze literature written by highly regarded literary figures before the new world colonization to present day authors and writing papers dissecting their work.

SPAN 4060: Narrative Fiction

This course explored different famous literary works and their authors and how their stories correlated with the events that occurred during the time.

Biochemistry Courses (minor)

GEN 3020: Molecular and General Genetics

This course explored the general concepts of genetics.

BCHM 3010: Molecular Biochemistry

This course delved into the biochemical aspect of life and why elements and chemicals are important for life.

BCHM 4400: Bioinformatics

This course explained ways to learn genetic and biochemical information through computational research.

BCHM 4430: Molecular Basis of Disease

This course explored the molecular reasonings and causes of diseases like metabolic disruptions or genetic mutations that cause important activities to not function.

BCHM 4320: Biochemistry of Metabolism

In this course we explored the metabolic pathways that occurs in human bodies and other organisms for life to occur and systems to function correctly.

Spanish Courses/ Language Oriented Instruction

Spanish 2020: Intermediate Spanish

This course introduced me to more complex Spanish grammatical constructs and when and how to use them. This coursed delved deep into the technical and grammatical side of Spanish and trying to use high grammar when speaking without making mistakes.

SPAN 3050: Intermediate Spanish Conversion/Composition

This course explored deeper into higher grammatical concepts and how to break it down when speaking to someone. We practiced talking abundantly and being comfortable speaking Spanish so that less mistakes were made when speaking.

SPAN 3010: Spanish Composition for Health Profession

This class we learned about health statistics throughout Spanish speaking countries and how they differ from each other and how they differ from The United States of America. We also talked about inequalities and disparities in the health community for Spanish speaking people.

SPAN 3140: Spanish Linguistics

SPAN 4190: Health and Hispanic Community

This class is exploring the health community for Hispanics and Latinos mainly in Central America, South America, and North America. We learned about the different communities within each sector and how certain situations impact their health and access to health care.

Genetics Courses

CH 2230 + 2240: Organic Chemistry 1 +2

This course taught the structure, properties, reaction, and synthesis of carbon containing compounds and how that relates to life.

BIOL 4610: Cell Biology

In this course we learned about the structure and function of cells and how they interact with their environment.

GEN 4100: Population and Quantitative Genetics

This course explored genetic composition of populations, how genetic variation is distributed in those populations and how phenotypic traits are influenced by genes and environmental factors.

HPA 1010: MCAT Prep class

This class was a MCAT Prep class so it explored different ways to tackle the exam, taught important information that can be on the exam, and gave practice exams to prepare us for taking the real exam.

GEN 4930: Senior Seminar

This course was taught for us to read and understand scientific papers and present presentations on them for us to understand how to read scientific papers correctly.

GEN 4600: Epigenetics

This course explored how cells control gene activity through different modifications and if those modifications effect transcription and translation.

GEN 4200: Molecular Genetics and Gene Regulation

This course explored the structure and function of genes at a molecular level for prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
